Backorder Items is a process which indicates that although Items are currently unavailable now, they will be available in the future.
Navigate to the supplier section using the main menu.

Backorder Overview
When an Item is requested, it is entered into the Pending Item Requests list.
Items that are unavailable will not be selectable. If you know that an Item will be available in the future, you may mark it as being in a special status Backorder.
When you mark an Item as being on Backorder the following actions will occur:
Every Workorder that has an Item Request for the Backorder Item will have their status changed to Inventory - Backorder. This will lock the Workorder until the item is restocked.
Mark an Item as on Backorder
Select the Flag Icon beside the item that you want to put on Backorder, select the Backorder status and click Save.
All workorders that have items which are on Backorder will automatically have their status updated and locked to Inventory - Backorder.
When new stock for an item is entered into the system, the following actions will occur automatically:
The item's Backorder status will be set to No.
All the Workorders which are currently in the Inventory - Backorder status because they are waiting for that specific Item will be changed to the Inventory - Order Requested status.
